Replaced a nice Onkyo with this

I replaced a really nice and at the time expensive Onkyo CD player that was getting a little long in the tooth. Saw the Marantz here on AC4L and decided to purchase. I am VERY impressed. I thought my Onkyo was (and it was) a nice player, but there are new details in my music now....going to have to listen to all those CDs again.

Detailed Sound/Great Price

Refurbed unit arrived well packed. Was replacing a 16+ year old JVC Top loader. I also have a 4 year old JVC recorder to compare to. Very natural sounding and well balanced. I would have to disagree with the previous review that playback sounds colored. Perhaps equipment mismatch?, further burn time required? I use a Carver M-400t for amplification, powering Klipsch KG 5.5's which seem to really accentuate equipment shortfalls, and I can can't find any yet with the Marantz. Transport seem quiet enough, even when changing disc's. Controls feel great for the price, quick play of discs and tracks (while scanning). Beats anything for $500 and under I have heard lately. Interested to see how it sounds after a good burn in. With solid state amplification, I would recommend, and the price can't be beat.

The best 5 CD changer on the market

For about 10 years a used a Sony 5 disc changer in my stereo configuration. I recently upgraded my speakers to KEF Q7s (also bought on this site) and need to upgrade my CD player. Many high end audio manufacturers frown upon making CD changers and most of Denon's CD changer models have serious problems. And Harman Kardon's 5 CD changer can be had for very little - because half of them don't even work. This is by far the best CD changer on the market. The sound is wonderfully clear and the unit is incredibly easy to use. Marantz means quality through and through. Their attention to detail is surpassed by few. Do yourself a favor and buy this unit

Good features, better price

This CD player is a great piece of equipment. The sound is full and detailed and is really on par with better single disc players that I've heard. I'm replacing an older model Sony disc player with this one. The one feature I have appreciated the most is being able to open the tray and change disks without interrupting the play of the disc on the laser. This makes changing CD music while entertaining much easier.

Great Sound

I replaced my 16 year old JVC with this Marantz cc4300, and oh man!! What a difference in sound.
Crystal clear sound. Bass I never heard before with my JVC. I basically listen to rock, and I could hear every instrument like the band was right in front of me. Real smooth music. Nothing too high pitched like the old player sounded. I really enjoy this changer. Time to buy some new CD's.
