Adding Real Bass Power, iPod Connectivity and Visual Appeal in a Performance-Focused Home Theater Package
Far too many home theater packages come off the factory floor without any defining differences. Not so with the HT-S4100. Built around a component taken directly from Onkyo’s renowned A/V receiver line-up, this package gives you unsurpassed levels of control, power and reliability. That translates into superb video and audio quality from all your sources (including DVD video, satellite/cable/ terrestrial broadcasts, gaming and music). Included in the package is Onkyo’s dedicated RI Dock for the iPod, giving your MP3 music files a chance to stretch their legs with some real audio amplification. You’ve also got ample bass power for movies, with a booming 200-watt subwoofer guaranteeing that you’ll never be underpowered, even in the most dynamic scenes. The gloss finish of the accompanying speakers gives the package a visual appeal that matches the undeniable quality of the HT-S4100’s A/V performance.
Drawing on the Onkyo Approach for Dynamic, Noise-Free Audio
Onkyo’s High Current Power Supply (H.C.P.S.) concept ensures that you will always have the power to respond to the wide dynamics of surround sound. To complement this power capacity, it is essential to limit the effects of signal noise. When the sound is attenuated, the audio signal drops close to the noise floor at low volumes, thereby tainting the signal The noise that results is magnified when the signal is amplified. Onkyo’s Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry adjusts the gain so that less than half the standard amount of attenuation is necessary .The signal never comes close to the noise floor, thereby eliminating the possibility of the noise found in conventional volume attenuation designs.
Component Video Switching (720p/1080i) with Single Connection to HDTV
With three component video inputs, you can have up to three of today’s latest A/V components—Blu-ray Disc players; DVD players and hard disk recorders; cable/satellite boxes; and gaming consoles such as the Xbox® and PlayStation®—connected simultaneously for output to the latest flat-panel and rear-projection displays. With a frequency range out to 50 MHz, you have more than enough bandwidth to pass a 720p or 1080i signal to a high-definition display.
Audio Playback from Your iPod with the Included DS-A1XP Remote Interactive (RI) Dock
The ubiquitous iPod has revolutionized how we listen to and store our music. The HT-S4100 is the perfect platform for integrating virtually any iPod for audio playback. When connected to the RI Dock, you can control your iPod with the system’s remote control. The Dock also recharges your iPod and gives you selected functions (Auto Power On, Auto Selector, Time Play/Sleep Timer and Alarm).
Gloss-Finished 5-Channel Speaker System Designed for Sound Quality
The HTP-460 gloss-finished speaker package not only looks good in any room, but also effectively handles the most dynamic film soundtracks. For a more emphatic home theater performance, the subwoofer packs 200 watts of bass amplification. Meanwhile, the front, center and surround speakers provide the wide dynamic range for any soundtrack, along with the ability to handle demanding audio signals.
DTS Neo:6 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic II for Enhanced Surround Decoding
DTS Neo:6 5.1 is an advanced matrix decoder that takes any two-channel source (say, a television broadcast or a DVD) and expands it into a surround sound field for a 5.1 system. It also provides separate, optimized modes for stereo music material and matrix surround movie soundtracks. An equivalent technology from Dolby Digital, Pro Logic II, also brings you multi-channel sound from regular stereo, for a more expansive home cinema experience.
CinemaFILTER to Enliven the Experience
The tonal balance of a film soundtrack can be edgy and “bright” when played back over audio equipment in your home. This is because film soundtracks are designed to be played back in large theaters using heavy-duty equipment. CinemaFILTER restores the correct tonal balance for watching a movie soundtrack in the smaller confines of your home theater. CinemaFILTER can be used with DTS and Dolby listening modes, and is easily activated from your remote control.
Designed for Quick Set-Up and Straightforward Connectivity
The receiver’s rear panel is designed so that you can connect it easily to your A/V components and speakers. Component video inputs/output are conveniently located on the top left of the rear panel, as are the digital inputs for Dolby and DTS surround signals. These are supplemented by color-coded 5.1-multichannel inputs that can connect to compatible Blu-ray Disc players to receive audio output from high-definition discs.
