Great Experience!

The order was three boxes and over 100lbs. Tracking was easy, delivery right on time and fast, all items were exactly as advertised. I also saved about 25% over the next best price on the internet and much more than that when compared to local stores.

Product Description

Redefining its Class with Controlled Power and High-Definition Prowess
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a mid-range home theater A/V receiver that packs the TX-SR705’s amplification power and audio processing capabilities. It might be comforting to look to its THX™ Select2™ certification for confirmation, but as the THX engineers have seen, there’s a lot more here than just efficient amplifier drive ability and all-round home theater performance. The TX-SR705 breaks new ground in the mid-range category by featuring not only the lossless audio codecs, Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD® Master Audio, but also the most advanced version of HDMI.And with a wealth of other class-leading features — 1080p video processing, Audyssey’s MultEQ® XT technology for room calibration and advanced processing devices from Texas Instruments and Cirrus Logic — nothing has been sacrificed in the making of this remarkable home theater component.

THX Select2 Certification for a Better Class of Home Theater
From its development stage to its final conception, the TX-SR705 has been engineered to comply with the most stringent requirements of THX Select2. Select2 certification means that the TX-SR705 is ideally suited to a home theater where the viewing distance from screen to seat is around 10-12 feet and the room volume is no greater than 2000 cubic feet. Among its technologies, Advanced Speaker Array (ASA) digitally reconfigures surround speakers for three listening modes: movies, music and gaming. The THX stamp of approval also covers an A/V receiver’s amplification characteristics. For example, under THX testing, the TX-SR705 has been proven to provide 12.5 amperes of peak current for its front channels and 6.2 amperes for its surrounds.

Processing 1080p Video and High-Resolution Audio via High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI 1.3a)
With three HDMI inputs, you can receive and switch the latest high definition components—Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD players, satellite and cable boxes, media centers and gaming consoles — for a pure, one cable digital connection to an HDTV. HDMI also delivers the latest high-definition audio formats — Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby® Digital Plus and DTS-HD® High Resolution Audio — to be processed by the TX-SR705’s onboard decoders. These new formats enable unprecedented quality, including bit-for-bit reproduction in the case of TrueHD and Master Audio. Also, HDMI 1.3a gives you greater bandwidth to deal with higher resolutions, 36-bit Deep Color™ and high frame rates.

HDMI and Component Video Upconversion for a Single Output to High-Resolution Displays
The TX-SR705’s HDMI inputs can receive pristine digital video from HDMI-enabled components, for a single-cable output to a display device with an HDMI or DVI connection. The TX-SR705 can also upconvert analog signals to HDMI so that all connected video sources can be outputted via one cable. And if your display doesn’t have HDMI capability, you can use the HD-quality component video connections, which will also cover your S-Video and composite video sources. To support progressive scan, the TX-SR705 features a deinterlacing chip with Faroudja DCDi Edge™ (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing). This technology helps to effectively eliminate video artifacts from HDTV images.

Audyssey MultEQ XT for Powerful Room Acoustics Correction
MultEQ XT is Audyssey’s most powerful built-in solution for countering distortion in dedicated home theaters. This technology detects speakers, and then sets levels, delays and crossovers, as well as measuring room acoustics. Using the receiver interface, it takes up to eight measurements around the listening area and uses high-resolution equalization filters for satellites and subwoofers. MultEQ XT covers both the frequency response and the time domain (where most of the problems lie) across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious—a clear, well-balanced and natural sound.

Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD. The emergence of HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs promises to bring unparalleled realism to home theater. Dolby and DTS have each developed improved audio formats to be encoded on these new DVD discs that will superbly complement the latest in highdefinition video. By connecting a player compatible with these new audio codecs to an Onkyo A/V receiver equipped with 7.1 multichannel inputs, you will be able to experience extreme sonic clarity from these new discs, while retaining the full use of the receiver’s other onboard codecs. MultEQ XT is Audyssey’s most powerful built-in solution for countering distortion in dedicated home theaters. This technology detects speakers, and then sets levels, delays and crossovers, as well as measuring room acoustics. Using the receiver interface, it takes up to 8 measurements around the listening area and uses high-resolution equalization filters for satellites and subwoofers. MultEQ XT covers both frequency response and time domain (where most of the problems lie) across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious—a clear, well-balanced and natural sound. DTS-HD Audio delivers sound quality that matches the clear and vivid images of high-definition video. Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs deliver five times the video resolution of standard DVD and produce images with stunning realism. But that's only half of the story. You need incredible sound to complete the high definition experience and DTS-HD Audio provides the highest quality multi-channel sound possible. Movies come alive with sound as lifelike as the picture, and music becomes as real as a live performance. Dolby® TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theater experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture. Deinterlacing chips featuring Faroudja DCDi Edge technology convert interlaced video signals to progressive scan signals. This technology helps effectively eliminate video artifacts from HDTV images. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) This high-bandwidth interface supports not only brilliant digital video, but digital audio as well. Up to 5 Gbps of data—more than twice what’s needed for a high-definition movie with surround sound—can be handled, with room for future requirements. All this data is kept in the digital domain, as there are no D/A or A/D conversions needed, to ensure the highest sound and video quality available.
Converts incoming composite, S-Video signals (like a VCR to S-Video equipped TV), and component signals all the way to HDMI on most models. Neural-THX Surround enables content to be encoded into 5.1 or 7.1 channels and transmitted to an Onkyo A/V receiver, where it is decoded by an onboard decoder. This technology reduces the bandwidth needed by broadcasters to deliver sound content and enable 7.1-channel support for gaming and movies. By dedicating a pair of channels on receivers with this capability, you don’t need an external amplifier to enjoy an independent stereo audio source in a remote room. For example, on higher-end models this allows for a full 5.1 channel movie to be enjoyed in the home theater, while simultaneously sending a song from a CD (or other source) to speakers in another room. With Onkyo’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What’s more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod® to your receiver through Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can’t be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music. RIHD allows CEC-compatible components or RIHD-compatible components connected via HDMI to be controlled via the AV receiver and offers at least three key benefits: 1) A standby mode, 2) volume control, and 3) a direct change function. With the standby mode, compatible RIHD components will go into standby when the user selects standby on the display. Secondly, with volume control, the user can use the display’s remote control to adjust the volume on the A/V receiver. And with the direct change function, RIHD will automatically detect which RIHD-compatible playback component has been selected. SIRIUS brings access to over 130 digital-quality channels, including 69 channels of 100% commercial-free music, plus exclusive channels of sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, weather and data. This model has a SIRIUS jack on its rear that connects to an optional SIRIUSConnect home tuner kit. This kit includes everything you need for easy home installation, including the SIRIUSConnect receiver, indoor/outdoor antenna with 21-foot cable, and an AC power adaptor. SIRIUS has three powerful satellites situated directly above the U.S., enabling coast-to-coast coverage with high elevation angles. With a “clear line of sight” to your home, your signal is unimpeded by buildings, trees or objects that might block conventional satellite signals. Originally developed by THX for movie theaters, this surround format enhanced the 5.1 channel surround sound by decoding two additional surround back channels. The benefit of this is immediately evident. Sound can now be positioned directly behind you, creating a more realistic 360º envelopment of sound. Fly-overs, drive-bys and other dramatic panning effects can now be experienced with more accuracy and much greater impact.
You can experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers. Imagine turning up the volume and filling your entertainment room with noise-free, impressively powerful, true-to-life sound. That's the benefit of Wide Range Amplifier Technology. Originally developed for our most expensive high-end amplifiers to handle the sonic demands of today's digital age, you'll now find WRAT even in our lowest-priced A/V receivers. The WRAT family of technologies includes a broader frequency range with lower noise entering the signal path – perfectly suited for new high resolution DVD-Audio and SACD formats. XM Satellite Radio is America's number one satellite radio service. It offers 160 digital channels, including 68 commercial-free, diverse music channels; more than 40 channels of premier sports, talk, comedy, children's and entertainment programming; and 21 channels of traffic and weather information. Simply plug an XM Passport System into your XM Ready A/V receiver, and activate the service to start receiving uninterrupted radio programming of your choice. Now, in conjunction with Neural Audio, XM Satellite Radio offers XM HD Surround, which provides 5.1-channel surround sound on selected programming. This surround sound format will be available with selected A/V receivers that have the Neural Audio codec. XM has introduced exciting new products called the XM Mini-Tuner and Home Dock which replaces the Connect-and-Play antenna. The XM Mini-Tuner and Home Dock work with any XM-Ready product — plus the Mini-Tuner enables subscribers to easily move a single subscription from one product to another.
