Two passions consume the average audiophile: one for nuanced, lifelike sound, and another for diverse musical genres. While the first passion usually results in a collection of high-performance audio-reproduction equipment, the second generally manifests itself in a large, and eclectic audio library. Both passions, however, lead any audiophile to the AVR-4311CI from Denon. In addition to a whopping seven channels and 1260W of output power bolstered by advanced signal processing, as well as the latest HD surround sound decoding capabilities, this Denon receiver delivers access to a listening experience far beyond the confines of your CD rack. With single ethernet port and DLNA certification, the AVR-4311CI equips you to stream online audio from a multitude of sources — personalized internet radio from Pandora or on-demand music from Napster or Rhapsody (subscription required). You can even jump media, and access digital photos on Flickr. Further, you aren't limited to content found on the internet: DLNA certification lets you stream audio and photos found on your computer or other devices in your home network, unifying your multimedia experience in your living room. Built for the passionate audiophile . . . the AVR-4311CI from Denon.
The new HDMI for the new dimension in home theater
Certainly, one of the most significant lynchpins of the high definition home theater has been the HDMI interface. High Definition Multimedia Interface connectivity and cables have allowed both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality surround sound to be transmitted along a single cable, ensuring optimal audio and video signal fidelity and dramatically simplifying home theater setup. Well, there's a new dimension in the world of HD home theater . . . 3D. As you go about assembling your new 3D-capable home theater — 3D HDTV, 3D Blu-ray player, 3D Blu-ray movies — there's not doubt that you're going to want to tie the whole thing together using the advanced data-transmission and utter simplicity of HDMI. Accordingly, a new, expanded, future-ready version of HDMI has been developed: HDMI Version 1.4. Sporting this latest HDMI standard, Denon's AVR-4311CI receiver not only allows for full pass-through of high definition 3D video from your 3D Blu-ray player to your 3D HDTV, but it even supports HDMI v1.4's new Audio Return Channel. When you connect an A/V device like a friend's gaming console directly to your HDTV, you can send the console's audio signal back to the AVR-4311CI using the same HDMI v1.4 cable that carries video to the TV. Accordingly, you can experience your video game's audio track on your multi-channel audio system without the need for any additional cabling. With six HDMI v1.4 inputs and one monitor output, this advanced A/V receiver from Denon is ready to integrate your entire home theater into a blissful 3D whole.
Start zonin' out
Okay, so here's your latest plan for a little home A/V upgrade. You're going to install a 32" LCD and stereo speakers to the bedroom for comfy place to fall asleep watching movies. Now, you could buy a second DVD player and receiver/amplifier for the HDTV and speakers in the bedroom. Or you could just invest in the Denon AVR-4311CI with multi-source/multi-zone capability and power your whole home theater with a single component. With its three-source, three-zone capabilities, the AVR-4311CI lets you direct three different A/V sources to three different areas in the house using just the source components in the living room. That means you can listen to an album on a stereo pair of speakers in the kitchen, play a movie in the bedroom, and catch the big game in the living room, all at the same time! And for the Zone 2 audio, choose to send a line-level signal to a stereo amp/receiver in the other room, or re-configure the AVR-4311CI's powered surround-back pair to fuel stereo speakers in the second zone. Get ready to zone out a little.
Who needs a dock when you've got USB?
Your iPod and iPhone are integral parts of your daily listening experience. However, to enjoy all your favorite tunes and playlists at home, most A/V systems require you to buy an expensive iPod docking station that connects to your receiver. The AVR-4311CI, on the other hand, tries a different approach: it sports a built-in USB port with dedicated iPod support. In other words, to listen to your iPod music via your AVR-4311CI-fueled home audio system, all you have to do is connect your iPod or iPhone to the AVR-4311CI receiver's USB port using the USB cable that came with your iPod. The simplest way to bring your iPod experience home — the AVR-4311CI from Denon.
The ultimate in surround sound from Dolby and dts
There's surround sound, and then there's high definition surround sound. We're talking seven full channels of uncompressed, studio-quality audio such as that found on HD sources like Blu-ray Disc. Taking full advantage of the HD audio experience requires more than seven speakers and a Blu-ray player, however. You've got to have the decoding power to translate the encoded digital signal on Blu-ray into an analog signal that can be amplified to power your speakers. You need heavy hitters from Dolby Digital and dts. Not only does the Denon AVR-4311CI home theater receiver sport Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding for seamless processing of the HD audio on your favorite Blu-ray movie, but it also serves up the latest from Dolby . . . Dolby Pro Logic IIz. Incorporating two front "height" channels into the surround sound constellation, Pro Logic IIz decoding adds a new dimension of spatial sensation to movies, music, and video games. Further, Audyssey's DSX processing uses advanced DSP algorithms to expand 5.1-channel, 7.1-channel, and 9.1-channel soundstages with additional front height or front width channels. Achieve the ultimate in surround sound in your home theater.
Upscale video from any source
You've just invested in a new HD home theater system. The whole she-bang: HDTV, Blu-ray player, 7.1-channel speaker system, etcetera. The only thing is, most of your home video library consists of standard definition video content like that found on DVD. Fret not, lover of all things home-theater; it's not "lights out" for your DVD collection. Thanks to the AVR-4311CI's buit-in video upscaling, this Denon receiver is able to upscale all standard definition 480i and 720p video content to near-HD levels — a perfect match to your HDTV.
And now . . . the nuts and bolts
Unless we're talking about yen, generally 1260 of something is a lot. Like, say, when we're talking about watts of amplification for your seven-channel audio system. With 140W of discrete power amplification for each of its nine channels, the Denon AVR-4311CI delivers all the power you need to achieve a truly impacting surround sound experience. This receiver doesn't just offer audio power, it also brings you high-fidelity audio reproduction. Minimum-signal-path technology minimizes degradation of the audio signal, while direct mechanical grounding controls sources of vibration, another threat to sound quality. While digital optical and coaxial audio connections offer versatile audio connectivity, six HDMI inputs make this receiver the HD hub for your entire system, offering the most advanced, single-cable HD audio/video connection. S-video, digital optical audio, component-video, and composite-video inputs are ideal for hooking up peripherals like a gaming console.
Audyssey equalization . . . a different kind of odyssey
Unlike Homer's Odyssey, the Audyssey technologies offered on the AVR-4311CI don't plague your home theater with perils and pitfalls, strife and struggle. There are no digital Scylla nor Charybdis here. For starters, Audyssey MultEQ room equalization works in concert with an included setup microphone to measure the performance of your speakers, ultimately adjusting and optimizing their performance based on the unique characteristics of your listening area, automatically. Further, Audyssey Dynamic Volume combines these technologies, constantly monitoring the sound source being heard and adjusting the volume to the optimum level for that source without sacrificing dynamic range. Imagine watching a "Behind-the-scenes" bonus feature on your favorite action movie. You need the volume to be louder when listening to the director discuss a scene from the studio, but when the documentary switches to a high-intensity scene from the film, you don't want to have to scramble to lower the volume.
Keep spinnin' your favorite playlist
Your iPod or MP3 player's headphones are great for listening to all your favorite tunes while you're out-and-about. But when you get back home, you should have the option of a fuller audio experience for finishing out your current playlist. Thanks to its built-in compressed audio restorer, the Denon AVR-4311CI enhances the audio found on portable audio players, serving up an audio experience worthy of your home audio system.

Buying a Denon Factory Refurbished product is a great way to get "as-new" products at a considerable savings. Every product has been thoroughly tested, repaired (if necessary), cleaned and otherwise renewed to original condition. Next it’s repackaged in a new box with all original accessories included. When you consider that a factory-renewed Denon product undergoes such close scrutiny for defects and workmanship, you might actually be buying something that is in many ways better than new. Denon, like all electronics manufactures, receives products returned for various reasons. In 2011 consumers returned 17 billion dollars in electronics globally, of which less than 5% were found to be defective! Once a product has been opened it must be resold as refurbished and can’t be resold as new again. The history and reason why a product was returned is not provided to us, thus we can’t provide any additional details regarding its past. All products are processed by Denon certified technicians, where they are fully tested, repaired (only if necessary), and retested again to ensure the highest quality control. Each unit must pass a complete battery of test before it can be titled a "Denon Factory Refurbished" product.
All units are Cosmetically in Mint Condition (graded a 9 or higher on a scale of 1-10) unless otherwise stated. Very minor signs of wear (light surface scuffs or minor scratches) may be present, although most units show little or no signs of any usage. We DO NOT sell products that are cosmetically damaged (cracked displays, broken knobs, heavy scratches, or physically abused) unless noted in the description. Unfortunately, we can’t provide actual photos of each unit or pick the best one for anyone, as they are all randomly chosen from our factory sealed boxes.
